DMX fans were able to watch the first installment of his two-part TV One interview last night (May 16). The rapper sat down with the autobiographical series “Uncensored” just three weeks before his tragic passing for what would ultimately be his final interview.
The first part of the interview saw X reflecting on his childhood in Yonkers, New York; his faith in God, love for dogs and more. At one point in the special, X said he met an angel when he was 4 years old after he being hit by a car.
The incident occurred while X was watching one of his younger sisters outside and his mom was visiting with a family friend. The rapper said he found a dime and was walking toward a store to buy a lollipop and a ball.
“As soon as I stepped off the curb coming down from the store, a car hit me [and] knocked me way over on the other side of the street up under another car,” he explained.
At first he tried to get up off the ground, but a white woman holding a clipboard appeared and instructed him to lie down, X said. Later, when his mom came outside and an ambulance arrived, the woman disappeared.
“You’d think that she would’ve stuck around because she saw the whole thing. I don’t know, I felt like it was an angel,” he recalled. “She got no business being in the hood with a clipboard.”
According to TV One, the second part of DMX’s interview will feature his family and friends and will celebrate his life and musical legacy.
“We have one hour with the late rapper in his own words,” Urban One Founder and Chairwoman Cathy Hughes said of the interview, as reported by Bossip. “For DMX to be with us just three weeks before God called him home… I believe it’s truly divine intervention.”
Watch the second installment of DMX’s “Uncensored” special tonight at 10 p.m. EST.
