As tributes and prayers continue to pour in for DMX, Travis Scott has sent his well wishes to the rapper, who remains on life support after suffering a heart attack on Friday (April 2). TMZ caught up with the Houston native on Monday evening (April 5) about DMX’s condition. The outlet asked Scott what his favorite song by DMX is, to which he quickly replied, “What’s My Name.” Scott then peeled away in his Bugatti Chiron and yelled, “Love DMX. X for life!”
As reported by REVOLT, hundreds of fans gathered outside of New York’s White Plain Hospital for a vigil on Monday evening to show their support for DMX. The crowd prayed for his recovery, played his songs and crossed their arms in the shape of an X as a tribute. According to reports, DMX’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom and their son Exodus joined the gathering.
Yesterday, a few of DMX’s other children also arrived at the hospital to visit him. Due to COVID-19 protocols, only one person is allowed in the rapper’s room at a time. TMZ reports that his mother Arnett Simmons and his fiancée haven’t left his side since he was admitted.
News of DMX’s hospitalization shocked and concerned hip hop fans worldwide on Saturday (April 3). TMZ first reported that DMX’s heart attack was caused by a drug overdose, but that has yet to be confirmed by his family. As of Tuesday afternoon (April 6), the outlet wrote that DMX’s condition is still “dire” and “unchanged.”
In a statement, DMX’s family thanked fans and supporters for rallying around the hip hop mainstay.
“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl,” they said. “Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”
