Hundreds of DMX supporters showed up to a prayer vigil to honor the rapper and pray for his recovery. Per TMZ, X’s family, friends and fans showed up outside of New York’s White Plain Hospital on Monday (April 5).
The crowd, which included his fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom and their son, Exodus, reportedly gathered outside of the Westchester hospital early Monday and have been playing his music his all afternoon. Shortly after the vigil started at 5 p.m., they chanted “DMX! DMX!” and crossed their arms in the shape of an X, per the main speaker’s request.
Employees supported the emcee from inside the hospital, holding up the same hand gesture. A woman reportedly cried in the audience. The large group of DMX fans eventually forced the police to block off the street.
As REVOLT previously reported, the vigil was a collaboration between the family and Ruff Ryders to the Rescue Foundation.
X’s mom, Arnett Simmons, and Lindsom have reportedly been by DMX’s side since he was hospitalized on Friday night (April 2) after suffering a drug overdose and a heart attack. Some of his children recently flew in to New York to visit him; the hospital’s COVID-19 protocols only allowed one visitor in X’s room at a time.
Members of the Ruff Ryders camp have showed love to the rapper with heartfelt tributes on social media.
“Prayers up …. dog nigga what!!!!!! Been an emotional few days,” Styles P wrote. “But I know deep down. GOD got you covered. You have repped for him even in your darkest times.. nothing less than an admirable GODLY trait…”
Sheek Louch, Eve and Swizz Beatz also prayed for X’s recovery.
DMX remains in the ICU, where he is being held on life support. An earlier TMZ report claims the rapper’s condition remains “dire” and “unchanged.”
