As the investigation into this year’s fatal Astroworld Festival continues, Lil Duval is offering his support to Travis Scott. On Tuesday (Nov. 9). the comedian took to Twitter to share his beliefs that the “Antidote” emcee should be absolved from accusations related to the recent tragedy.
“You can’t blame Travis Scott for that Astroworld shit,” he said. “That could’ve happened at any big event. I’m surprised it ain’t happened sooner. It’s damn near impossible to have that many people in one place with that much energy and nothing happens.”
In another post, he suggested that things may have exacerbated if organizers attempted to stop the event any sooner. “It probably would’ve made it worse,” he explained.
Duval’s post comes on the heels of Erykah Badu’s supportive tweet to Scott. On Monday (Nov. 8), she penned, “Bless you @trvisXX. Safe Journey to all the souls. I’m so sorry.”
As previously reported by REVOLT, Scott’s Astroworld Festival kicked off on Friday (Nov. 5), but the 50,000-person turnout proved difficult to control, resulting in a stampede that ended with at least eight lost lives and more than a hundred injuries. The Houston emcee has since been targeted for continuing the concert despite fans’ attempts to inform him of individuals who were in need of medical assistance.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, for example, claimed he warned Scott of his “concerns regarding public safety,” while Fire Chief Samuel Peña believes the rapper had the power to bring the show to end. “If somebody would have said, ‘Hey, shut this thing down and turn on the lights until this thing gets corrected’ — and that coming from the person with the mic — I think could have been very helpful,” said Peña.
Scott has also been hit with more than a dozen lawsuits related to the incident.
