Kanye West is calling on Drake to join him on stage next month to perform their newest albums in hopes to get Larry Hoover, co-founder of Chicago’s Gangster Disciples gang, freed from prison.

In a video clip that was shared on Monday (Nov. 8), Ye stood alongside J. Prince and read a message to the Certified Lover Boy emcee from his phone. “I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between myself and Drake,” he said. “Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest. I’m asking Drake, on Dec. 7, to join me on stage as a special guest to share the two biggest albums of the year, live in Los Angeles with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover.”

Ye added, “I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together.”

J. Prince took to Twitter to say that he met with the Late Registration emcee to tell him that Hoover wants him and Drake to end their beef. He tweeted that he is “looking forward” to working with both rappers “in unison to elevate our communities around the world.”

Back in 1973, Hoover was convicted of murder and sentenced to serve life in prison. In 1998, he was sentenced to an additional life sentence after being found guilty of drug conspiracy, extortion and continuing to engage in a criminal enterprise by proceeding to run the gang from behind bars.

This past summer, Hoover was denied a sentencing break under the First Step Act. Ye previously tried to get him released from prison through clemency by Former President Donald Trump when he visited the White House in 2018.

Ye recently enlisted Larry Hoover Jr. to appear on his Donda album on the track “Jesus Lord,” where he gave a spoken word thanking the Chicago MC for “taking the fight for my father to the Oval Office.”
