King Von has passed away after a fatal shooting in Atlanta, multiple reports have sadly confirmed. The 26-year-old was reportedly shot outside of Atlanta’s Monaco Hookah Lounge around 3 a.m. local time on Friday morning (Nov. 6). HotNewHipHop writes that two other people have also been confirmed dead and several were injured in the shooting.
“[A] physical altercation escalated into an exchange of gunfire with those groups,” Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution of the situation. “Two police officers who were working at that particular club, or lounge, noticed the altercation and engaged some of the people involved. There was an exchange of gunfire with police as well.”
Von was rumored to have been critically injured after the shooting, but reports confirmed his tragic passing on Friday afternoon.
“It’s with great sadness that I have to confirm that King Von has passed away,” DJ Akademiks tweeted. “I spoke with his manager who luckily has survived being shot and is currently recovering in the hospital. However, Von manager did confirm that Von was shot and did not make it. RIP King Von.”
“Just received tragic confirmation,” hip hop journalist Justin Hunte added. “Rest in peace, King Von. Gone way too soon.”
Just last week, Von released his new album, Welcome To O’Block. The 16-track effort saw collaborations with Moneybagg Yo, Five Foreign, Polo G, Dreezy, Lil Durk and Prince Dre. A promising up-and-comer, Von was known for his Chicago drill sound and fierce storytelling abilities. The Windy City native reached viral success with his “Crazy Story” single series and his last project — Levon James — was met with warm reception upon its release this March.
Details surrounding Von’s tragic passing are still developing, and we’ll continue to update you with the latest. Rest in peace, King Von.
