This past weekend, Tinashe took to social media to reveal that she would seen be dropping a new album titled 333, which may or may not feature loose cuts and leaks like “HMU For A Good Time,” “Let Me Down Slowly,” “Rascal (Superstar),” “Love Line” with Shift K3Y, and “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching” with Iggy Azalea. Today, she reveals a new song titled “Pasadena,” a presumed lead single to 333 that features past collaborator Buddy. Produced by Oliver Malcolm, the upbeat track sees the two looking forward to the warmest season of the year:
“The summer’s comin’ ’round the corner, and now I’m feelin’ like I don’t even know ya, I’m never leavin’ California, now more than ever life is all what you make it, I got a vision of a perfect night, but every day I end up goin’ through the motions, I wasn’t build for the simple life, in Pasadena singin’, ‘Do, do-do-do, do…’”
Upon its release, 333 will follow Tinashe’s fourth LP Songs For You, her first independent drop since her departure from RCA Records. Led by singles like “Die A Little Bit,” “Touch & Go,” and “So Much Better,” Songs For You contained 15 tracks with additional appearances from Ms Banks, 6LACK, MAKJ, and G-Eazy. In addition to landing on various end-of-year lists, the project also scored Tinashe a top 20 placement on Billboard Top R&B Albums chart.
Meanwhile, it’s been three years since we received Buddy’s big label debut Harlan & Alondra, a well-received effort that contained 12 cuts and contributions from Guapdad 3000, A$AP Ferg, Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg, and Khalid. The project did receive a deluxe addition in 2019 with four additional tracks and newer collaborations alongside 03 Greedo, Bas, JID, Ari Lennox, and more. Last year, Buddy did hold his fans over with a few loose cuts and Janktape Vol. 1, his joint release with Kent Jamz.
