Back in 2018, Buddy liberated his long-awaited debut LP Harlan & Alondra, which saw 12 genre-bending tracks and additional appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg, Khalid, Guapdad 4000, and A$AP Ferg, the last of who appears on the hard-hitting and Afrocentric cut “Black.” Today, the Compton star delivers the sequel to that track, “Black 2,” which sees him continuing his love for his people:

“Everybody tryna get dreads and s***, but they ain’t African, all the light girls gettin’ the tan so they can darken they skin/

I’m sorry, it’s a black thing, I don’t give a f***, I said the s***, with the rhetoric, everybody wanna design something for Louis Vuitton/

Baby, it’s a black thing, blacked out in the backseat in the black Jeep listening to “Black” by me…/”

Given the current state of affairs, it’s a dope song to enjoy while pushing for change via social media or out in the streets during the protests.

In a relatively recent interview with Hypebeast, Buddy revealed that he’s currently working on the follow-up to Harlan & Alondra with his former label boss Pharrell Williams:

“Probably two, three months ago. I’m so in it, I don’t even know. Time is a crazy concept. I’m just trying to finish, you know? Last week it was me, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo making music. I ain’t kick it with him since, you know – it’s been a minute. I hung out with him and Snoop Dogg, Kid Cudi. But we were working together. I was working with The Neptunes. That s***’s everybody’s dream. That’s probably the most exciting thing that happened to me. It was fire because the next day, Pharrell had to bounce because he’s busy. Then I told Chad to pull up. He pulled up and he was kicking it with me.”
