Buddy has been pretty productive for the first half of 2020. Back in April, he teamed up with Overdoz member Kent Jamz for the collaborative release Janktape Vol. 1, and has since dropped a dope visual from said project for “Bad Boys.” He also contributed heavily to Dreamville’s Revenge Of The Dreamers III (including the Director’s Cut), giving his talents to seven songs with the J. Cole-led collective overall. More recently, Buddy dropped off “Black 2,” the sequel to his Harlan & Alondra cut back in 2018.
This week, he connects with rising R&B star Lucky Daye for the laid-back groove “Faces,” which is produced by D’Mile and is perfect for you and your bae’s late-night bedroom playlist:
“She grippin’ on my chain when we f***, yeah, she came in with us, tell me, is it love or the lust, on the train or the bus/
Gettin’ brain on the plane, baby, welcome to the mile high club, but she stay for the drugs, ain’t a thing to discuss/
Sweepin’ everything under rugs, baby said she can’t get enough, ‘Cause a n***a dangerous, dangerous, and I don’t remember last night/
Can’t remember last night, last night, Hennessy on ice, got a n***a excited, excited, slid it to the left side, hit it from the back side, that’s right…/”
Including the aforemented “Black,” Harlon & Alondra saw 12 tracks from the Compton talent with assists from Guapdad 4000, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Ferg, Ty Dolla $ign, and Khalid. This past February, Buddy liberated a deluxe version of the project with four extra tracks and new collaborations with 03 Greedo, Kent Jamz, Bas, Guapdad, JID, and Ari Lennox.
Press play on “Faces” below. Given the high quality drops, one can definitely hope that an official sophomore LP is on somewhere on the horizon.
