Things quickly went left at a Rod Wave concert on Saturday (Oct. 31.) The rapper walked out on stage with his entourage to perform at his Halloween show in Atlanta, Georgia, when the stage collapsed beneath their feet. Fans captured the moment on video when the rapper’s team fell through the whole on the floor, as Wave barely managed to miss the hole but still took a spill on stage.
The videos began making the rounds on social media, with people expressing concern and support for “Pray 4 Love” emcee, while others also cracked jokes. He beat fans to the punch and shared the video of his fall on Instagram and was a good sport about the situation and reacted with some humor. “PIMP DOWN I REPEAT PIMP DOWN,” the rapper captioned the clip.
A video a fan shared on social media from a higher angle shows just how badly the stage broke underneath the star and his team’s feet. People can later be seen being pulled out of the hole and walking away toward the back of the venue.
Another angle also shows the moment fans that were close to front of stage helped break Wave’s fall as he went down toward the edge of the platform.
According to some concertgoers who took to Twitter to talk about the incident, the “Letter From Houston” rapper did not continue with the show after the fall. “ROD WAVE FELL ON STAGE OMFG. THEN HE LEFT YALL! HE DID NOT PERFORM!!! one fan wrote. The stage collapsed as soon as he made it out, and some fans said they waited hours to watch the performance. “So we just waited for about 4 hours for Rod Wave for him to come out & fall through the f-cking stage,” one person tweeted.
Some of his fans expressed concern for the rapper online after the fall. “Rod wave must’ve thought the world was ending when the stage collapsed,” a fan tweeted with the crying emoji. Others thought he will use this moment as inspiration for his music. “Rod Wave about to channel that into his saddest song ever,” one fan tweeted.
