It looks like Machine Gun Kelly’s punk rock vibes aren’t departing any time soon. This past April, the Cleveland star liberated his latest single “love race,” a Jeff Peters, Jared Gutstadt, and Travis Barker-produced effort that features Sleeping With Sirens singer Kellin Quinn and keeps with the emo-alternative theme that we’ve heard from MGK over the past couple of years. As previously reported by REVOLT, the producers even took viewers through some behind the scenes footage of the song’s creation.
Now, fans get to check out a visual for “love race,” which brings the song to life in the form of a teen slasher flick. The clip begins with a nerd-like character — played by MGK — being dropped off at what appears to be a summer camp. Soon after, an unknown assailant begins killing off campers one by one, with MGK playing multiple roles throughout. The guitar-wielding multi-talent can also be seen rocking out in a swimming pool and in a clubhouse — the latter seeing a cameo from Barker.
Back in 2020, MGK dropped his fifth studio LP Tickets To My Downfall, his first all-rock album that saw 15 tracks with contributions from Halsey, Trippie Redd, blackbear, and Iann Dior. The project was a critical and commercial success as well, landing at the top of the Billboard 200 thanks to 126,000 first-week album equivalent units sold. In addition to a few deluxe editions of that project, that same timeframe also saw MGK releasing loose cuts like “Sorry Mama” with Phem, “Why Are You Here,” “Bullets with Names” with Young Thug, RJmrLA, and Lil Duke, and — mere months ago — “DAYWALKER!” with CORPSE. Presumably, there’s plenty more music to come from the Bad Boy/Interscope Records signee sooner than later.
