This month, Bugzy Malone will unveil his sophomore LP The Resurrection, which will see 15 cuts with additional appearances from Dermot Kennedy, Emeli Sandé, and Chip, the last of whom reunited with his former enemy on the infectious number “Notorious.” This week, Bugzy drops off a new visual from the project for the album closer “Skeletons,” a Blinkie-produced effort that sees him reflecting on his life and past struggles:
“I’m fuckin’ with dollars, they blue again, and now my ego is tellin’ me it’s me against you again, I had a right-hand man and then I kinda lost two of them, killers, knew a few of them/
Some incarcerated and some are sittin’ at home, livin’ with ghosts, I could have got the Phantom but I wanted two doors ‘cause I prefer solo/”
Directed by WhatsESaying, the accompanying clip sees Bugzy and his masked crew in different locations — a parking lot, on a balcony overlooking the city, and in the middle of a soccer/football field. Overall, the clip is simple-yet-very effective, mixing symbols of the Manchester native’s high-end winnings with clear reminders of his connection to the streets.
The Resurrection will follow 2018’s B. Inspired, a 14-track offering that saw contributions from JP Cooper, Rag’n’Bone Man, Maverick Sabre, Not3s, and Laura White. In addition to charting in various countries (including the UK Albums chart, which he peaked within the top 5), B. Inspired also earned Bugzy a Silver certification.
