Currently, Young Thug and Gunna’s Slime Language 2 standout “Ski” has everyone trying to create a matching dance, including Chris Brown, Future, and Drake. Now, not only did Dave East decide to do the same, but he’s also revealed a freestyle over the BabyWave, Outtatown, and Wheezy-produced instrumental, complete with bars about living life and honoring loved ones lost or incarcerated:
“New Balance first, then I trapped in some Asics, I think I done ran out of patience, she eatin’ my dick, so she definitely can’t say shit, came from the bottom, I call that bitch basement, all us the owner, now we just pop Aces, they sick, you can look in they faces…/”
Shot by Max Comfort, the accompanying visual for Dave East’s “Ski (East Mix)” shows him in different locations within his residence, doing his version of the aforementioned dance and clowning around with his children. He can also be seen shooting around on a basketball court, alluding to his athletic background.
“Ski (East Mix)” follows his and fellow Harlemite Vado’s “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” a twist on Drake and Rick Ross’ hit that also acted as a tribute to their fallen friend Kiing Shooter. Last year, East liberated the third installment of his Karma Series, which originally saw 15 cuts with additional features from Popcaan, Trey Songz, Trouble, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Doe Boy, Young Dolph, Bino Rideaux, Mary J. Blige, and more. Months later, Karma 3 would see a deluxe upgrade with eight additional songs and contributions from DeJ Loaf, Chris Brown, Junior Reid, Jeezy, and more. His last (and debut) official LP, Survival, made landfall in 2019 — hopefully, there’s a new body of work that’s set to arrive sometime sooner than later.
Until then, fans can press play on Dave East’s “Ski (East Mix)” video below.
