Since its release, Drake and Rick Ross’ Scary Hours 2 cut “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” has become the song that many of their peers would try to remix — Meek Mill, Chip, Sneakbo, Potter Payper, and Yung Bleu are a sampling of those who did so successfully. The latest comes from Vado and Dave East, who have turned their version of “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” into a tribute for late Queensbridge artist and friend Kiing Shooter:

“Every day I wake up, I pray that nobody harm me, smoke a hundred spliffs in the memory of my auntie, Iceberg sweaters, my bills up like Chauncey, still’ll whoop yo ass like Kane fuckin’ up Chauncey/

We ain’t drink no Henny since Shooter died, that shit hit so hard, even my shooter cried…”

Last year, Shooter transitioned due to complications surrounding cirrhosis and subsequent liver failure. In addition to Dave East, Vado, and Uncle Murda, Nas also honored the budding star with a poem of his own:

“You made your mark and got your wings, on many hearts, you pulled their strings, from QB to Heaven, the world in between, what a pleasure to have you, in our lives, in this world, in our world, we shared our street dreams.”

Prior to “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” this year saw Vado release the singles “N.I.S.S.S.” and “It’s Alright” with Lloyd Banks and Shemon Luster. He also recently joined Jim Jones and Rain on the El Capo (Deluxe) standout “MMTC.” Meanwhile, East has kept busy with a slew of videos for high quality tracks like “No Lucc (East Mix),” “Child Of The Ghetto,” “Mercedes Talk,” and — mere days ago — “Know How I Feel” with Mary J. Blige. The Mass Appeal-signed artist’s latest project, Karma 3, made landfall last August and spawned a deluxe upgrade months later.
