Just a few days ago, Cordae unleashed a short and sweet EP Just Until, which served as an appetizer as he revs up his engine for his official sophomore album. Today, he keeps the hype going by dropping a visual for “Dreaming In Color.”
The freshly released Aplus-directed video sees the rapper enjoying a day outside with his crew, stopping by a burger shop, chilling by some train tracks, and more. On the feel-good track, he speaks on the society of this day and personal issues in his life, all tying into an idea of “dreaming in color,” and he even references a cute story about his lady:
I dream in color and I sleep on a canvas, I think we all need each other/ Empathy, that could be our advantage, bad bitch speak Creole and Spanish/ She look this way, then I’m likin’ my chancesOh, man, why I go on these tangents?/ Bird’s eye view, this shit panoramic, still fightin’ off my paranoia, shit too real, just fired my lawyer/
Trust issues, I’m needin’ to fix it, that could be an empire destroyer, you seen what happened to Julius Caesar/ Stevie Wonder told me, “You are a leader”/ My girl would forfeit a tennis match to meet my grandmama, man, she truly a keeper (Huh)
The aforementioned Just Until… sees four tracks and a couple of assists from Q-Tip and Young Thug. It’s been a couple of years since Cordae unveiled his debut LP The Lost Boy, a 15-track offering that saw collaborations with Meek Mill, Arin Ray, Pusha T, Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, and Chance The Rapper. That same year also saw Cordae joining the likes of DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Rico Nasty, Gunna, Tierra Whack, and Blueface as a member of XXL’s highly coveted Freshman class.
