At the top of this month, IDK showed off his versatility by putting his own spin on two of today’s most popular tracks: “Back In Blood” by Pooh Shiesty and “Gravity” by Brent Faiyaz and DJ Dahi. He continues to find ways to showcase his range, and his latest offering puts his vocal chops front in center as he covers the legendary hit “Frontin’.” Dressed in a tailored suit and du-rag and backed by a beautiful orchestra, IDK delivers Pharrell’s iconic opening verse and hook:
Don’t wanna sound full of myself or rude, but you ain’t looking at no other dudes/ ‘Cause you love me, so you think about a chance, you find yourself trying to do my dance/ Maybe ‘cause you love me
So then we tried singing it slow now, because you weren’t used to how fast we touched (Fast we touched)/ Then we locked eyes and I knew I was in there, and I was gon’ tear your ass up (Tear your ass up)/ I know that I’m carrying on, never mind if I’m showing off, I was just frontin’
Following the aforementioned covers, IDK also dropped off his own new single “Just Like Martin.” Last month, the Maryland rapper announced his monthly radio series with Apple Music and launched his Apple Music 1 show Radio Clue. The monthly one-hour series aims to create an environment where exposure to music is tied to specific memories. His focus is to help listeners find their identity through music education without resorting to lecturing or providing answers. He also debuted exclusive tracks and play hidden gems many will hear for the first time. Also in exciting IDK-related news, he has just announced the creation of No Label Academy, a music business course that will revolutionize creative education.
