The last time we heard from IDK music-wise was his “Cereal” track with J.I.D and Kenny Mason back in August. Now, he circles back around as he gains momentum in preparation for his upcoming project by releasing “King Alfred” featuring Lil Yachty. On the track he dives in head first by demanding the return of our 44th president:
“Bring Obama back, tell ‘em bring Obama back. Got the Uzi and a cannon, where the drama at? (Rat, rat)Oh, they askin’ for a favor, where the commas at? (Lil Yachty: Uno, dos, tres, ayy, cuatro, cinco, seis, ayy.) We shall overcome, and if we don’t, b**ch, you better run (Ayy)They comin’ with the sticks and the drums (Ayy)The money make the band sound great.”
The new song is is expected to appear on U SEE 4 YOURSELF, which would be the follow-up to IDK’s September 2019 debut album Is He Real? Back in June, he dropped IDK & Friends 2 (Basketball County Soundtrack), which is the second installment of is IDK & FRIENDS series that debuted back in 2018. IDK & Friends 2 included guest appearances from Juicy J, PnB Rock, YungManny, Rico Nasty, Big Flock, Big JAM, and Weensey.
The rapper made his network TV debut in the US in July on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with a powerful performance of “No Cable.” In an interview from last month, IDK reflected on that night:
“I just said what I felt, how I’ve been feeling as a Black man in this country. I’m in two different places. One place is angry at how deep the racism actually is. But, on the other side, there are non-people of color who are stepping up to the plate and accepting that change is something that needs to happen. There’s way more awareness than there’s ever been.”
