IDK puts his versatility front and center with his latest back-to-back drops. He has just dropped off his version of two popular tracks playing through everyone’s speakers as of lately: “Back In Blood” by Pooh Shiesty and “Gravity” by Brent Faiyaz and DJ Dahi. For the latter track, IDK takes inspiration from the original hook, but then switches it up with his own bars:
Don’t act like I’m average, I’m made out of magic/ I beat up the cat, put the cat in a casket/ and now we back at it (I get you what you want)/ I know you done had it, but you wan me alone/ I’m batting my average, this shit is a hazard, you tyna live lavish, but bitch you a savage/ I swear to God your cupid had a motherfucking glock, he aimed it at my heart but shot my motherfucking top
Also in exciting IDK-related news, he has just announced the creation of No Label Academy, a music business course that will revolutionize creative education. For the inaugural launch, No Label and IDK are constructing an immersive ten-day course convening primarily BIPOC students from around the country at Harvard’s campus to learn the ins and outs of the music business. Focusing on topics like mental health, financial literacy, and creative innovation
In a past interview with REVOLT, IDK spoke on seeing commercial success without actually succumbing to the characteristics:
“Being true to yourself, talking about the issues that you wanna really actually talk about, not acting like you’re something else. But, understanding that maybe sometimes your shit gotta be shit you can sing along to. I was thinking that the same way when I made “Pizza Shop.” If you think about that first verse, and really even the second verse, you can sing-a-long to that whole song. I remember when I was making it, I was like, ‘yo I wanna say … I used to want to hang like Dae Dae,’ ‘cause I know that when I drop the beat at a show, and I say that, everybody’s gonna be about to say that.”
