At the top of the year, Fousheé and Lil Wayne teamed up for their “Ain’t Got Time” track together. Since then, they decided one song wasn’t enough, and now they have circled back to share the freshly released “gold fronts” music video. In the new Edgar Esteves and Jon Primo-co-directed visual, the two take a trip to their favorite corner store as Weezy delivers his verse, using repetition to relay his message:
They can’t take my gold fronts, they can’t take these white cups that I just poured up/ They can’t take these gold teeth. They can’t take this gold leaf that I just rolled up/ They can’t take my gold blunt
Can’t tape my bullet holes up, can’t take my close up/ They can’t break my hoes up. They can’t break these shoulders/ Or make my quota/ And I’m the one they take their notes from. The one they try to take their flow from
Fousheé also shared her “sing about love” single earlier this year. In 2020, she released a few tracks for fans to enjoy, including “single af,” “Deep End,” and “Expectations.” Last year, Lil Wayne also delivered a slew of releases including his thirteenth studio album Funeral (as well its deluxe upgrade), Tha Carter V (Deluxe), and the third installment of his No Ceilings mixtape series. Hosted by DJ Khaled, No Ceilings 3 was released in two parts, A Side and B Side, making for a whopping 34 cuts and plentiful collaborations with Big Sean, Drake, Rich The Kid, Young Thug, and more.
In a recent sit-down Fousheé, delved into how hearing Wayne’s verse made her feel. “It brought me back to so many moments of riding around as a kid, us in whoever’s car, piled up in the car, just blasting away and screaming the verses,” she says. “I thought it was the most beautiful verse I heard from him from a long time. I thought he really put his heart and soul into that. And it was a different side of him that we haven’t seen in a while.”
