Young Thug believes he should go head-to-head against Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle.
During a recent appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast with Wallo267 and Gillie Da King, the Slime & B emcee said he would have to go up against someone who has the same cultural influence that he has. “It would probably have to be like Wayne,” he said at the 33-minute mark, according to Complex. “Because you got to think — we got to talk about influence. We got to talk about everything. It’s not just about no rap. Everything falls behind that shit.”
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on how they think the battle would go. Twitter user @ncanarchist tweeted, “Man, all Weezy have to do is go back to Tha Block Is Hot and that shit is like 21 years old! These new generation rappers are TOO bold.”
“Which of the Lil Wayne?” asked Twitter user @Oluwatomiiiii. “Mixtape Wayne? Carter Wayne? Hot Boy Wayne? Rockstar Wayne? Tunechi Wayne? He gotta be specific cus ‘Fireman’ is bigger than anything Thug ever put out til today and ‘Fireman’ is 17 years old. Thug should do a Verzuz with Uzi or Kodak.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Thugger spoke about an awkward encounter he had with the “A Milli” emcee the first time they met. “The first day that n*gga didn’t goddamn dap me up,” he said. “Tried me. That n*gga tried my pimping. … Left me hanging.”
The two have had a very turbulent relationship. Thugger released Barter 6 — with the help of Birdman — while Wayne was fighting to get Tha Carter V released. The two seemed to have buried the hatchet since then. Thugger was recently featured on Wayne’s latest mixtape, No Ceilings 3.
