Last December, Jammer revealed his latest body of work Natural Selection, which saw 13 tracks and additional appearances from D Double E, Wiley, Jme, Tyrell Trey, Rinsa, Jude The Obscure, and more. Looking to keep the momentum going, the East London emcee delivers a new visual from the project for “Heritage,” a Oneninenine-produced effort that sees him focused on the history of the culture that he helped create and expand:

“My G’s done it from a test press, through the riddim man express, man leveling decks yeah, and them man never had decks yet, and Stormzy never had sex yet, Kano didn’t link Ghetts yet, Titch never got that stretch yet, and Wiley never got vex yet/

And Dizzee Rascal never left yet, Chipmunk didn’t link Wretch yet, Jme weren’t spitting with Skep yet, and Jaykae never lost Depz yet, do this for the culture, building like a soldier, no time for a vulture…/”

Directed by Neron Power, the accompanying clip is mainly centered around Jammer pouring his heart out in what looks like a therapist session. Elsewhere, he reflects on music and life in a room filled with classic grime records, all featuring artists referenced on the nostalgic cut. Near the video’s end, he’s seen with his crew toasting to his success.

In addition to both his own work as well as contributions as a prominent member of Boy Better Know, Jammer has also paved the way for a wealth of other grime artists via his “Lord Of The Mics” series, which has essentially been in place since the turn of the century. In addition to iconic clashes like Wiley vs. Kano, “LOTM” helped further spotlight now veteran artists like P Money, Big H, Tre Mission, Merky Ace, Lay-Z, Sox, and more.
