Back in November, Lil Yachty unveiled Lil Boat 3.5, a deluxe edition of Lil Boat 3 that added on eight additional tracks and collaborations with Future, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, Vince Staples, and more. One of those fresh cuts is the Oliver Tree-assisted “Asshole,” a pop-esque offering that sees Yachty defending himself against certain accusations within a relationship — something that many can probably relate to:
“You woke up on the wrong side of the bed, blamin’ me for shit I didn’t do, that’s incorrect, I’ma tippy-toe right out your life, you do me wrong, ain’t finna keep puttin’ up with all that disrespect/”
The Sad Pony, Romano, OG Parker, and Hitmaka-produced single now comes with a visual directed by Tree himself. The whimsical clip shows Tree infiltrating Yachty’s residence Mission Impossible-style, stealing his jewelry and going full Goldilocks throughout. Upon waking up, Yachty chases and apprehends his collaborator before dragging him through the desert as punishment. It’s certainly a fun watch worth a few replays.
Originally, Lil Boat 3 saw landfall in May, and contained a healthy 19 cuts with assists from Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, Mike WiLL Made-It, Drake, DaBaby, Lil Keed, Lil Durk, and Young Thug. The album was a moderate success for the Atlanta star, landing within the top 20 of the Billboard 200 thanks to 30,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. Currently, Yachty is said to be working on a new body of work titled Michigan Boy Boat, which will see him trading verses with several rappers from Detroit and Flint — Sada Baby, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG, YN Jay, RMC Mike, and Louie Ray are among the various rising stars expected to appear on the forthcoming effort.
Until that project materializes, fans can press play on Lil Yachty and Oliver Tree’s “Asshole” video below.
