Last summer, K Camp teamed up with his fellow RARE Sound members Bobby Kritical, iAmTheGENIUS, and True Story Gee to release RARE Family, a compilation that saw 12 cuts and additional appearances from Mozzy, Eearz, Lil Bird, and more. This week, the Atlanta collective liberate a new visual from RARE Family for “Birthday,” a YG Beats-produced effort that would be perfect for anyone celebrating their birthday on the dancefloor — if only we weren’t still stuck in a pandemic.
The music video for “Birthday” is mainly centered around K Camp, the song’s feature Yella Beezy, and a bevy of beauties partying and sipping champagne in an open lot with what looks like a dope collection of Hellcats. Said cars can also be seen in several shots racing on the freeway.
In addition to RARE Family, 2020 also saw K Camp unveiling the fifth installment of his well-received Kiss mixtapes, which saw 15 tracks and a plethora of assists from the likes of Yung Blue, Jacquees, Jeremih, Ari Lennox, 6LACK, Fabo, and Tink. The project proved to be K Camp’s second most successful project to date — behind his 2015 debut Only Way Is Up — with a peak placement within the top 30 of the Billboard 200.
In a past interview with REVOLT, K Camp revealed Kiss 5 to be his last of that series:
“I just felt like, you know, I’ve been doing the Kiss series for about 10 years — since 2011. So, I think I did my time and did good with this project. With the fifth one, I put some features on there, I was satisfied, the music sounded good, the production sounded good, and I just wanted to end it on a good note.”
