Back in April, K Camp capped off his nine-year KISS mixtape series with its and final installment. After dropping his video for “Tatted Up” featuring Fabo, Camp returns with another visual off the project, this time his collab track with Yella Beezy titled “Top 10.” Over the Motif Alumni and Bobby Kritical-produced beat, K Camp flows
“Shawty, what’s the move here? Young nigga on the wave like a cruise ship. Got too many hoes, what to do with ‘em? My brother got a problem, I’m gon’ shoot with him. Shawty don’t know who she fuckin’ with. I’ma try and turn it up a little bit. Twenty racks on me, I’ma pop shit. Tell your ex stop poppin’, he is not it. Let’s make a movie, shawty. They cannot school me, shawty. I hit up Phipps with a forty.”
KISS 5 included features from Ari Lennox, Jeremih, Yella Beezy, Yung Bleu, Wale, 6lack, and more. In July, K Camp released RARE Family as a follow up project to keep the momentum going. In more recent news, the Atlanta artist dropped off a visual for his collab song with Jacquees on the project titled “What’s On Your Mind” earlier this month, in addition to tapping in with Rubi Rose for her single “Pogo.” He also linked with True Story Gee on the singles “Big Dawg Status” and “Racks” this year.
In a recent interview, K Camp elaborated on how an artist can decide when a time is right:
Honestly, I didn’t realize it was three years since the last one. We put out a couple of little projects in-between that time. I dropped Slum Lords 2 (2017), RARE Sound (2018), and Wayy 2 Kritical (2019) trying to get the clubs back; tapping back in with what we originally came out with. K.I.S.S. 5 wasn’t on my mind. I didn’t want to slow n****s down, I wanted to turn n****s up. After you turn them up, you slow it down again.”
