Last month, Walt Disney Records release the official soundtrack for the new Safety series. Among the beautiful arrangements is the original song “Hold Us Together” performed by Grammy®-winning singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist H.E.R., which she wrote and produced in collaboration with Josiah Bassey and Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II. The official music video for the track has just arrived, featuring scenes of people enjoying their everlasting bonds while H.E.R. sings about the unbreakable connection:
I will trust in You and know that You are with me forever. I’ll confide in You ‘cause You’re the only answer that matters. Even in the darkness, You will be my light. Even when I’m hopeless, You will be my guide. I will not be shaken, I will not be moved. Even in that chaos, I know that You’re good. You’re the keeper, protector. It is You that holds us together. When everything else fails us. It is You that holds us together.
Directed by Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Reginald Hudlin, Safety is now streaming exclusively on Disney+. Safety is a drama inspired by the empowering story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Aided by his teammates and the Clemson community, he succeeds on the field while simultaneously raising and caring for his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (Thaddeus J. Mixson).
H.E.R.’s last full-length project was 2019’s I Used To Know Her. The 19-track compilation included features from DJ Scratch, YBN Cordae, and Bryson Tiller. In 2020, she shared a handful of singles including “Do To Me,” “Wrong Places” from Songland, “Slide” and its remix featuring A Boogie, Chris Brown, and the late Pop Smoke, and “Comfortable.” She also provided assists on Skip Marley’s “Slow Down” and Lonr.’s “Make The Most.”
