As anticipation for the upcoming festival season grows, Bonnaroo, Rolling Loud and more have announced their start-studded lineups. The latest festival to reveal its featured acts is Miami’s own Jazz In The Gardens Festival, which will return to the Hard Rock Stadium this March.
The 15th annual jazz and R&B fest will feature headlining acts Mary J. Blige, H.E.R. and Jill Scott. Other performers will include The Roots with Bilal, Kirk Franklin, Charlie Wilson, SWV and Stokley. Radio host and comedian Rickey Smiley will emcee the event.
“Jazz In The Gardens celebrates its 15th Anniversary in 2020 and we are very excited,” Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert relayed in a press statement. “This year’s festival has a stellar lineup of Grammy Award-winning artists. It is not only the city’s signature event, but it’s also how we say hello to the world as we draw thousands of people from all over to party with us. We look forward to seeing you on March 14th and 15th.”
While H.E.R. did not take home any trophies at the 2020 Grammys, she was nominated for Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Her collaboration with Daniel Caesar, “Best Part,” also landed her on Barack Obama’s summer favorites playlist.
Acting kept MJB busy last year, with her recently announced role in the forthcoming Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect. Blige will play 1950’s “Queen of Blues” Dinah Washington, while Jennifer Hudson will star as Franklin. Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Marc Maron, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess and Tate Donovan will also act in the MGM Studios film, which is expected to hit theaters on Aug. 14.
The 15th Annual Jazz In The Gardens Festival will take place over the weekend of March 14 and 15. Tickets are currently available on the festival’s website.
