Next month, YG will be releasing his fifth studio album My Life 4Hunnid, which is expected to feature the previously released singles “Equinox,” “FTP,” “Swag,” and “Laugh Now Kry Later!” This week, he adds to that with a new single titled “Out On Bail,” which sees production from Bouvé and Lil Rich.
“Gave my heart to the gang, do it gang, it’s a no-goIt’s some n***as from the gang that’ll do you for some promo, this s*** in my veins, I done tattoed the logoIn court they gon’ judge me, he a mеmber, it’s fo’ sho-sho/
But I don’t care about what they think at all, camе in this world alone, I’ma leave alone, standin’ tall, chin up, chest poked out, like, chin up, chest poked out, like ‘Ah’…/”
The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Austin Simkins and shows YG in performing the track in a line-up, surrounded by police cars, and in other locations that presumably make reference to the current issues taking place in Black communities all over America.
It’s been a little more than a year since YG delivered 4Real 4Real, which saw 14 tracks and additional appearances from Tyga, Valee, Boogie, Meek Mill, Kamaiyah, G-Eazy, DaBaby, Ty Dolla $ign, and more. That project also earned YG his fourth straight top ten placement on the Billboard 200, thanks to 37,000 album equivalent units sold. Speaking to Big Boy’s Neighborhood, YG spoke on how Nipsey Hussle’s death affected that album’s release:
“I was so confused, my album was supposed to be a surprise album… When the shit happened with the homie, I’m like, ‘Damn, I can’t album out, I can’t be promoting this shit.’ … They gave us the location of where they were taking bro … We were like 15-20 minutes away, and they were like, ‘Homie ain’t making it.’”
Press play on “Out On Bail” below. My Life 4Hunnid officially makes landfall October 2.
