Last year saw A$AP Ferg keeping the raves going with his Floor Seats EP, which featured nine tracks and collaborations with Rico Nasty, Brent Faiyaz, Ty Dolla $ign, A$AP Rocky, Asian Doll, and more. More recently, he liberated the hard-hitting cut “Value,” which brought fans back to Ferg’s iconic Trap Lord days with its aggressive approach. Now, he switches up the tempo with “Feel Some Type Of Way Freestyle,” a more laid-back number that sees the Harlem star waxing poetic to his significant other over production from YOUAGOODKID:
“I buy you Godiva chocolate, it’s been a minute, you still ain’t divin’ in chocolate/
We both in situations and then decided to stop it, true goddess, your pops is a lawyer, mom is a prophet/
You never love me for profit, you stay to yourself and ain’t into the gossip, I can tell you the one, you keep tellin’ me, “Lock it”/
Still, ain’t givin’ me nothin’ even though you wet as a faucet, you tellin’ me, “Go all the way in,” I’m givin’ deposits…/”
The accompanying video comes courtesy of Jared Leibowitz, who filmed Ferg during his Australian tour back in March, just before the Coronavirus pandemic had the entire world on a quarantine lockdown. Since then, A$AP Ferg has been doing his best to help his community, even providing meals for the healthcare workers at Harlem Hospital Center:
“For all of the front line workers, everybody risking they lives, the heroes, [we’re] providing food from Melba’s, you know, we’re doing it for Harlem, we’re doing it for everybody.”
Press play on the black-and-white clip for “Feel Some Type Of Way Freestyle” below. Hopefully, Ferg’s been spending some extended time in the studio during the aforementioned quarantine, and his official follow-up to 2016’s Always Strive And Prosper is on the horizon.
