Last March, Joyner Lucas delivered his debut studio album ADHD, which featured 18 tracks and features from Young Thug, Chris Brown, Logic, Fabolous, and more. One of the standout cuts from the project was “Will,” which was produced by Crank Lucas and showcases the Connecticut artist paying tribute to Philadelphia hip hop legend Will Smith, using different movies from the rapper-actor’s career in his lyrics. Add in the amazing visual accompaniment, and it was only a matter of time before the Fresh Prince himself responded, which — with the help of Jaden Smith — eventually led to an on-screen meeting with his younger counterpart:
“Joyner Lucas! That joint is crazy! I’m humbled and honored… It has been my intention from day one to go into the world positive energy, and use my creations to inspire and elevate and elevate and empower.”
It looks like more has happened since, as fans are now able to listen to a remix of “Will” featuring the song’s namesake on the record, and it sounds like Will Smith is still hungry when it comes to the music:
You feelin’ like me? I feel like a prince that turned to a king, found me a queen, started a family and got me a team/
On top of my dreams, Joyner, I know you inspired by me, like I was inspired by Nelson Mandela, I give him a rose for every endeavor/
And shoutout to Julius Erving, one of the legends I worship, Muhammad Ali put the work in, he was the champ, the greatest, he earned it/
I love that you think that I’m perfect but I have plenty mistakes and burdens…/”
You can press play on the remix below. It’s hopeful that, not only will we see an equally creative visual to match, but we’ll also be hearing more from Will Smith on wax in the near future.
