Yesterday (March 25), Joyner Lucas released his latest ADHD visual, “Will.” The song pays homage to one of Lucas’ role models — Will Smith — as he becomes the actor in a compilation of Smith’s greatest roles.
“Yeah, I grew up on a legend and I gotta show it/ I learned a lot from him and I owe it/ Homie’s my idol and don’t even know it,” Lucas raps as he transforms into Smith from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Men In Black, The Pursuit of Happyness, Bad Boys and more.
The clip closes with an audio snippet from an interview between Smith and Charlie Rose, where he likened a childhood memory of building a wall with creating a legacy.
“Thank you for helping me build my wall,” Lucas penned at the end of the video.
Now, and much to Lucas’ surprise, Smith has responded to the clip with a major co-sign.
“Joyner Lucas, yo, that joint is crazy,” the I Am Legend actor said in a video, which Lucas reposted to his Instagram. “Dude, I am humbled and honored.”
“One of the lines you say in there — you inspire people and you don’t even know it — it has been my intention from day one to really go into the world and put positive energy and to be able to use my creation to inspire and elevate and empower,” Smith continued. “I just love what you’ve done, it’s creative. Brother, again, humbled and hope to meet you one day.”
Lucas was naturally ecstatic at the recognition from his idol, captioning the post with, “Is this real life??? Bruh I need to take a cold shower and wake up. I’m dreaming right now.”
“Will” marks the latest creative visual Lucas has released in anticipation of his forthcoming album, ADHD. The “I’m Sorry” rapper shared the album’s tracklist on Wednesday (March 25), revealing that the project will include collaborations with Chris Brown, Young Thug, Fabolous, Logic and King OSF.
Revisit “Will” below and get ready for ADHD, dropping this Friday (March 27).
