“[Melba’s] and I Serving the Hero’s !!!” Ferg wrote on the ‘Gram.
The Melba’s official Instagram account also documented the event, revealing that both the restaurant’s founder and Ferg had actually been born at the Harlem Hospital.
“Supporting the Harlem Hospital Heros!” Melba’s wrote on Instagram. “FUN FACT: FERG and I were both born in Harlem Hospital xoxo.”
The New York City Health System in Harlem also posted on social media to show their appreciation for Ferg and Melba’s.
“Huge thanks to [A$AP Ferg] for donating 300 lunches courtesy of [Melba’s] to our #HealthCareHeroes at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem,” a post on Instagram reads. “These meals keep our amazing staff members #HarlemStrong as they protect their community from the #coronavirus.”
In a video posted by the New York City Health System, Ferg shared his own appreciation for the local healthcare workers and revealed why he decided to donate.
“For all of the frontline workers, everybody risking their lives and the heroes, we’re providing food with Melba and we’re doing it for Harlem. We’re doing it for everybody,” he said. “These guys are risking their lives. We’re just here to make their job a little bit more sweeter.”
