Last year, A$AP Ferg had the world turned up with Floor Seats, a nine-track EP that saw additional appearances MadeinTYO, Asian Doll, Rico Nasty, Ty Dolla $ign, A$AP Rocky, Brent Faiyaz, and more. Now, he makes his first official drop for the not-so-new year with “Value,” which sees him reconnecting with producer Razjah. The track is reminiscent of earlier, more aggressive drops that brought him to hip hop’s upper echelon:
Fell in love with a stripper and that is what happened today, ay, found that b***h on the Insta’ and that is the f*** what I say, ay/
Told that girl like I finna fly my ass out to LA, girl actin’ like she Alpo, put that cake all in my face/
Flacko cop new ‘Rari, told his ass I wanna race, VLONE thuggin’ with Bari, all of my n***as got taste/
We gon’ mosh in the party, get the f*** outta my way, thirty got kick like karate, don’t wanna meet the AK…/”
The accompanying, fast-moving visual — directed by AWGE’s Hidji World — sees Ferg and some eye candy in quarantine, mixed with footage of slavery and oppression. We also see shots of an empty New York City, one of the major hotspots for the Coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Ferg has been pretty active in regards to helping his city, too — following his inclusion into the celebrity-fueled All In Challenge, Ferg was spotted distributing 300 meals from Melba’s Restaurant to the healthcare workers at Harlem Hospital Center earlier this week:
“For all of the front line workers, everybody risking they lives, the heroes, [we’re] providing food from Melba’s, you know, we’re doing it for Harlem, we’re doing it for everybody.”
Press play on “Value” below, which is hopefully a confirmation of a new album in the near future.
