Given the current state of the world, it’s dope to see how artists are creating beautiful music in such a troubling time. Case in point — Khalid has decided to liberate a new track for the masses titled “Wildflower,”
“Spend my days countin’ down/
Time will pass, that I know/
Whatcha done broke me down/
Not alone, I’m vulnerable/
Let you in, take good care/
See the signs, crack the code/
The time will pass, that I know/
Love will grow like a wildflower…/”
The Texas star has been fairly busy this year, already having liberated the singles “Know Your Worth” featuring Disclosure and “Eleven.” Last year also saw a couple of other singles — “Up All Night” and the Death Stranding cut “Trigger” with Major Lazer — that could altogether be leading up to a new album for 2020.
Khalid landed at the top of the new generation with 2017’s American Teen and 2019’s Free Spirit, which both landed at the top of this Billboard 200 during their respective releases (the latter earned Khalid his first number one). He also released the successful Suncity and a slew of singles throughout his career, including the smash hits “Location,” “Young, Dumb & Broke,” and “OTW.”
Keeping with the current crisis, Khalid has had to make adjustments to his forward movement — beginning with the postponement of his upcoming “Free Spirit World Tour” dates, which would have landed him in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, India, South Korea and other locations in the Far East. Just before Valentine’s Day, promoter AEG explained the reasons behind the postponement:
Due to the recent advisories and travel restrictions in several Asian countries, Khalid will be postponing his upcoming tour of Asia. Our highest priority remains the safety of Khalid’s fans, his team and everyone who has been working on these concerts.
