It’s only been a month since the world lost King Von, one of hip hop’s brightest stars. The late Chicago emcee was also known for his close affiliation to Lil Durk — both are huge symbols of their Only The Family (OTF) movement. Following a return to social media, this week sees Lil Durk delivering a new track for the masses titled “Backdoor,” which sees him rapping about both the evils of the streets and current struggles that come with fame and success:

“Them n***as act like they don’t need us, they do everything we do, they wanna be us, foe ‘nem takin’ ecstasy, they tryna T up, he rather go and blow her back instead of R’up, you weren’t on that block when that shit was goin’ on/

I wasn’t worryin’ ‘bout the other side when that shit was goin’ on, and we don’t hang with different n***as, don’t ask us what we on, the only time we’ll beat the case, you pull out camera phones…/”

The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Jerry Production and shows Lil Durk with his crew in different locations while showing off various spoils — money, jewelry, cars, threads, and more. Durkio can also be seen paying tribute to his cousin OTF Nunu, another heartbreaking reminder of his losses.

“Backdoor” follows the recent single released “Stay Down” with 6LACK and Young Thug and “The Voice,” the last of which is also the presumed title of Durk’s forthcoming studio album. Prior to that, he liberated Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 in May, which saw 15 tracks and additional features from Lil Baby, Polo G, Gunna, and G Herbo. That project debuted within the top five of the Billboard 200 thanks to 57,000 album equivalent units sold, eventually earning Durk a well-deserved Gold certification.
