Back in October, the legendary Busta Rhymes liberated his tenth studio album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, the official sequel to the 1998 classic Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front. The project sees 22 tracks (not counting the multiple deluxe upgrades) and additional appearances from Rakim, M.O.P., Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Q-Tip, Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Mariah Carey, Kendrick Lamar, and more. This week, the New York veteran delivers another visual from E.L.E. 2 for “Outta My Mind,” which is produced by Dready and Rhymes himself and flips Bell Biv Devoe’s classic cut “Poison.” Simply put, this is the track that’s made for a hip hop dance floor — if only they were currently open:
“Wait, one sec, hey, homie, what’s hood? Bouncin’ on the beat like the way you n***as should, look, now watch me just leave another stamp, and then be spittin’ the shit that other n***as can’t/
It’s never gonna end, I bounce right back and shit on them again, sit back and watch other n***as bleed, and then I come to give y’all the shit you need/”
Directed by Michael Garcia, the music video shows a party in action, with Busta Rhymes living it up alongside the likes of Spliff Star, Maino, Prayah, and more. Of course, Bell Biv Devoe join in on the celebration, adding to a fun, 90’s vibe the crowd is able to enjoy. As hinted at in the beginning of the clip, it’s presumed that the necessary Coronavirus-related protocols were put in place to keep everyone safe.
“Outta My Mind” follows previously released clips for “The Don & The Boss,” “Yuuuu,” “Czar,” “Boomp!,” and “Master Fard Muhammad.” In addition to his own drops, Busta Rhymes has also spent this year providing assistance for tracks by DJ Kay Slay, Trippie Redd, Salaam Remi, and Stevie Wonder.
