Busta Rhymes has been a staple in the music industry for 24 years now and for him to still be relevant in 2020 is something truly special — especially since not many artists are fortunate enough to have that type of stature.

Since he stepped on the scene back in 1996, he knew exactly how he wanted to be remembered when it’s all said and done — and how he’d get there. Quite frankly, anyone that has Busta listed on their all-time greats list more than likely wouldn’t get any backlash because in retrospect, he’s proven that he belongs on everyone’s list through the years. Today, the hip hop veteran drops off his new effort Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.

Although he won’t be touring for his new album due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 48-year-old icon made sure he got himself into touring shape. He additionally did a profound job at inspiring others to join him (see the above before and after comparison).

Serving as his 10th studio album, ELE 2 is the sequel to the classic Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front that provided the world with memorable records like “Gimme Some More,” “What’s It Gonna Be” with the legendary Janet Jackson and more. The apocalyptic predictions in the initial Extinction Level Event were a tad bit early, but with Extinction Level Event 2, Busta Bust is doubling down to the core.

The New York MC made sure this body of work was special as he joined forces with a number of profound artists: Bell Biv DeVoe, Q-Tip, Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and more. In addition, Busta broke a 2020 barrier as he successfully got Kendrick Lamar on the album for his very first album placement of the year.
