In the not too distant past, Afrobeats frontrunners WizKid and Burna Boy came together for the P2J-produced “Ginger,” a track that ended up on WizKid‘s well-received fourth studio LP Made In Lagos. Last month, the star collaborators reconnected for “B. D’OR,” another P2J-backed offering that takes inspiration from the prestigious Ballon d’Or football (soccer) trophy:
“Penkelemess, come dey smoke cannabis, doctor say makе I pop one of this, make me fly likе say I’m Aladdin, come bring some kind melodies, omo Messi self no do pass at this, so many things inside of my jeans, I swear down e be things, e be things, penkelemess, con dey move like a disco, won ni ki ma lo latan, I be pose, I be actor, So therefore give me Ballon D’or…”
This past weekend, “B. D’OR” returned in the form of a flashy new visual that sees Burna and Wizkid hoisting the aforementioned trophy and celebrating their overall wins. The duo can also be seen taking jet skis to the water, vibing on a yacht with plenty of beautiful people, posting up with the likes of Kamaru Usman, and more.
Wizkid’s fourth studio album Made In Lagos was released back in 2020 with 14 songs and — in addition to Burna — features from from Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Tems, and more. Before Made In Lagos, WizKid made his big label introduction with Sounds From The Other Side, a surely solid project that saw 12 cuts and assists from Ty Dolla $ign, Chris Brown, Major Lazer, Trey Songz, and more. That same year also saw Burna Boy liberating his fifth studio album Twice As Tall, which boasted 15 tracks and assistance from Youssou N’Dour, Naughty by Nature, Sauti Sol, Chris Martin, and Stormzy.
