Back in August, WSTRN dropped off the beautifully infectious “Be My Guest,” a collaboration with Nigerian talent Fireboy DML — an artist signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation who made big waves with his 2020 body of work APOLLO. Produced by PRGRSHN, the genre-bending offering sees the artists letting potentially love interests know where they stand:
“Be my guest, you tryna get inside my head, I’m tryna fuck you in this kitchen, ’cause I got another girl in my bed, she call me heart-breaker, heart-breaker, heart-breaker, for a balla, whine fi me, Annabella, I nuh got time for no whatever, fine girla, just tryna get my paper, can’t fix what’s already broken, but if you wanna try I’m open, mm, don’t cry, but I’m down for you…”
Directed by Charlie Di Placido, the accompanying clip takes us through a venue where each member of WSTRN can be seen vibing with beautiful women individually. They then connect in a big room with a few choreographed dancers, all while Fireboy sings to a woman of his own in an adjacent kitchen.
To date, the world continues to wait for the trio to deliver their official debut LP. Two years ago, WSTRN liberated the second installment of their WSTRN Season mixtape series, which saw 16 cuts with additional features from Unknown T, Miraa May, and SOB X RBE. In addition to that release, 2019 also saw member Akelle released from prison following a stint for a “violent disorder” — since then, the group created new momentum via the well-received songs “Never Find/Armagidion” and “Mama Stay,” the latter of which made landfall back in March. All of this builds hope that the aforementioned body of work lies right around the corner.
