So far in 2021, Houston’s rising star Monaleo has dropped off a slew of singles to enjoy, including “Suck It Up,” “Girls Outside,” “Draft Pick,” and her breakout track “Beating Down Yo Block.” At the end of summer, she also linked up with fellow Texas native DJ Chose for their collaboration hit “Lock It Down.” She now returns this week with her latest freestyle “Show You Sum.” In the accompanying visual, Monaleo is in her element in the studio with some homegirls as she lets off some fire bars:

In terms of guest verses, Monaleo can be heard dishing out features on projects like Maxo Kream’s recent WEIGHT OF THE WORLD album, Yung AI’s I Am Yung project, and also on D Flowers and DeeBaby’s collab project Be Someone HoUSton Population.

Earlier this week, Monaleo provided an update on her mental health in a moment of transparency on social media. “I just need a break right now. I hope y’all understand,” she wrote to her supporters in a tweet. She then continued on to assure people she was taking a hiatus to ensure she keeps it authentic always. “I wouldn’t feel right putting on a smile for y’all knowing I’m not in the best headspace. I don’t want to bring any weird energy around y’all. I love you guys so much ! Ima shake right and come back harder but I gottttta clear my head.” The new “Show You Sum” freestyle was released by her team as Monaleo takes her break.
