It’s been well over a year since Stove God Cooks released his well-received debut LP Reasonable Drought, a 12-track body of work that saw production handled by Roc Marciano. Since then, the Syracuse emcee has continued to feed his exponentially growing fanbase with top quality collaborations like “In The Kitchen” with The Yutes, “Dope” with French Montana, and “Cold” with Rock Abruham and Skyzoo. Cooks has also aligned himself with Buffalo’s Griselda collective — this past weekend saw him making multiple appearances on Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side B.
In addition to providing his talents on Gunn’s new project, Cooks also liberated a dope cut of his own. Titled “That’s The Game,” the Samba Beatz-produced effort that sees him harmonizing about his wealth, the pitfalls of the hustle, and more:
“All I ever wanted was a billion dollars, knew that I’d be rich when we was whippin’ powder, ten thousand hunnids later, we drippin’ in Prada, niggas wit’ that action, you don’t want no drama, that’s the game, that’s the game, niggas be around you, screaming that they love you, but I done seen it change…”
Currently, fans can catch Cooks supporting Conway The Machine as part of his “Love Will Get You Killed Tour,” which kicked off earlier this month in Atlanta. Remaining dates will see the artists taking to the stage in cities like Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Houston, among others.
