After getting shot outside of a recording studio in Miami, SpotemGottem’s health status is reportedly improving. During a conversation with TMZ, the emcee’s manager, Dee Phatboy, revealed that the 19-year-old is now in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
According to Phatboy, Spotemgottem left a Miami studio and was on the I-95 around 3 a.m. Friday (Sept. 17) when a car reportedly pulled up next to the Dodge Charger he was in and began to ran fire. Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alejandro Camacho told the Miami Herald that the car was hit 22 times on the driver’s side; the rapper had been sitting in the passenger’s seat.
“He said a car pulled up next to him, and he heard gunshots,” said Camacho.
The driver reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to his hip, while the “BeatBox” star — who was shot five times — was struck in both legs. Both individuals were transported to Aventura Hospital in critical condition. Hours later, the rapper’s lawyer, Raven Liberty, revealed that Spotemgottem underwent surgery. She added that her client is in stable condition before clarifying that he was not involved in a shoot out.
“He is alive, most importantly,” she said. “This was not a shoot out. He was a victim of a drive-by shooting.”
Per TMZ, authorities are still in search of the gunman behind the horrific shooting. It is not clear what car the individual was driving.
Spotemgottem — who is signed to Geffen Records — has worked with the likes of Da Baby, Polo G, Pooh Shiesty and NLE Choppa, but he is most known for his 2020 hit “BeatBox,” which peaked in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song sparked the viral “Junebug” challenge on TikTok as well as remixes and freestyles from Young M.A., Latto and more.
