Longtime fans know that Young M.A has been obliterating her peers’ beats for some time now — one example of that is her and her crew’s take on Nicki Minaj and G Herbo’s “Chiraq” instrumental. Following her recent freestyle over CJ’s “Whoopty,” M.A. returns with another for SpotemGottem’s hit record “BeatBox,” which she makes quick work of with hard-hitting and humorous rhymes:
“So much water on my neck, it’s like I’m detoxin, two drums and two sticks I’m beat boxin, I wish he would, we gon’ treat top him, I just blew out 50 out the safe I had to restock/
Fuck a grammy I got the street watching, and for my bro I wear that red until I’m dead, I know that he watching, that’s my ex bitch cause she toxic, got this new bitch now we toxic, can’t cap, I’ll be toxic…/”
Shot by Marc Diamond, the accompanying visual for Young M.A’s “Beatbox Freestyle” sees her in a residence with a couple of crew members, flashing guns and performing the Junebug challenge — a dance that originated on Tik Tok and is a big reason for the success of SpotemGottem’s aforementioned single.
It’s been a couple of years since Young M.A liberated her debut LP Herstory In The Making, which boasted 21 tracks for her fans to enjoy — including the standout cuts “Car Confessions,” “Bleed,” “Stubborn Ass,” “Big,” “PettyWap 2,” “No Mercy (Intro),” “The Lyfestyle,” “My Hitta,” “Numb,” “Bipolar,” “Sober Thoughts,” “She Like I’m Like,” “Foreign,” and “RNID,” all of which received matching visuals in promotion of the album. She then followed that up with Red Flu last May, ensuring that her fans were well-fed during the still-active pandemic. Given the release of her latest single “Off The Yak,” its hopeful that a new project lies on the horizon.
