Scarface has received a new kidney from his son. T.I. revealed the good news on his Instagram account. “My mentor @brothermob Got a new kidney… From his son no less…#GodIsGood,” he captioned a photo of the Geto Boys rapper in the hospital.
The “Guess Who’s Back” emcee has had kidney issues since his bout with COVID-19 last March. After testing positive for Coronavirus, he was placed on dialysis, a treatment that removes excess water and toxins from a person’s blood. The Houston rapper said he felt like he was going to die while experiencing his COVID-19 symptoms, which included nausea and loss of appetite.
“COVID attacked my lungs first, and then it attacked my kidneys and knocked them out,” he previously told FOX 26 Houston. “I got full lung recovery, but my kidneys never came back.”
Back in October, Scarface took to social media to ask if anyone with B+ type blood would donate a kidney to him. A few days after his tweet, T.I. offered a financial reward to anyone who was willing to donate the organ to his longtime friend. “We got a bag for a volunteer… who B+? Serious inquiries only hit my DMs to verify ya B+ blood type,” the “Whatever You Like” MC wrote.
Over the summer, Scarface revealed that his son Christopher Jordan would be donating a kidney to him after finding out that he was a match. Chris gave an update about the kidney transplant to Instagram on Wednesday (Sept. 15).
“What a journey it’s been,” he captioned a photo of himself with his father in the hospital. “Surgery went well, my dad is thriving, kidney is working great!!!! Thank you all for the prayers. @brothermob love you family.”
