Scarface revealed that he has begun the process of receiving a kidney transplant. The Geto Boys emcee took to Twitter to update his fans on his recent kidney search.
“I’ve started the process to get a kidney transplant, I appreciate the love! It should take me 2-3 months to see if I’m a good candidate,” he tweeted. “In the meantime, you stay healthy the list will open shortly [thereafter] and we can discuss who’s a match…again I appreciate that y’all.”
He also tweeted that he does not need a specific blood type for the transplant, although he initially asked for a kidney donation from people with B+ blood types.
“They will match me with my kidney in exchange so anyone can be a donor,” Scarface wrote. He also added, “Can’t thank y’all enough.”
Last week, the “Guess Who’s Back” emcee tweeted that he was in search of a kidney donor following his bout with COVID-19. “I need a kidney y’all any volunteers? B+ blood type,” he tweeted on Oct. 7.
A few days after his post, T.I. took to Instagram to offer a financial reward for anyone who was willing to donate the organ to Scarface. The “Whatever You Like” rapper captioned a screenshot of Scarface’s tweet with, “Love & Prayers To Da Homie @brothermob. We got a bag for a volunteer… who B+? Serious inquiries only hit my DMs to verify ya B+ blood type.”
Back in March, the “Smile” rapper was diagnosed with COVID-19. A few weeks after his diagnosis, he gave an update on his condition. He revealed that his lungs fully recovered, but his kidneys “never came back.”
“COVID attacked my lungs first, and then it attacked my kidneys and knocked them out,” he told FOX 26 Houston. “I got full lung recovery, but my kidneys never came back.”
Scarface then went into detail about other symptoms he had experienced. “I’m still a little weak,” he said. “I don’t have a lot of strength in my legs yet. I still haven’t got full taste back and sense of smell yet. But, I am glad to be alive.”
