It’s somewhat surprising that, despite the group’s success thus far, WSTRN hasn’t delivered an official debut album. Two years ago, we did get the second installment of their WSTRN Season mixtape series, which saw 16 cuts with additional features from Unknown T, Miraa May, and SOB X RBE. In addition to that release, 2019 also saw member Akelle released from prison following a stint for violent disorder, building hope that much was to come from the British trio.
Over the past year, WSTRN did create new momentum with the top tier singles “Never Find/Armagidion” and “Mama Stay,” the latter of which made landfall back in March. Just before September arrived, they added to that with “Be My Guest,” a collaboration alongside Nigerian star Fireboy DML — an artist signed to Olamide’s YBNL Nation who made big waves with his 2020 body of work APOLLO. Produced by PRGRSHN, the infectious track sees the artists speaking to potential women about what it takes to get their virtually undivided attention:
“‘Scuse me while I’m feelin’ myself, okay, okay … you lookin’ like one of them internet girls, I hope that don’t mean you kissin’ and tell, well? Okay, okay … be my guest, we in this hotel, many have tried but many did fail, ’cause I’m L Bigga, well nigga listen to me like, yo, I tried, I be on the Westside, niggas wanna know what I’m on, I’m a tell a don, if you wanna be my guest, try, she wan’ lock with I…”
Currently, “Be My Guest” also sees an accompanying visual that shows three women performing a dope dance routine to the music. Presumably, an official clip will probably reach the surface sooner than later.
In the meantime, check out WSTRN and Fireboy DML’s “Be My Guest” visualizer. Also included is WSTRN’s recent contribution to Ricky Dietz’s “Juicy Fruit.”
