This has been quite an eventual year for Soulja Boy from a music standpoint. There was his “Verzuz” battle with Bow Wow, which saw the two artists reminding viewers and attendees while they’re still two of the most important in hip hop culture. There was also the comeback single “She Make It Clap,” a return to form for the “Crank That” star — fans then saw Soulja open the floodgates, providing a slew of quality cuts like “Rick & Morty,” “Copy & Paste” with T.I., “BOP!,” and “Mad.” It would also be hard to forget the countless claims of being a first mover on everything from technology to clothing — some of which have been confirmed in humorous fashion.
Today (July 28), Soulja Boy finally liberates his long-awaited album Big Draco, his second official drop of the year since February’s Soulja World. The 12-track offering sees additional contributions from Desiigner, Omarion, Tadoe, and his aforementioned “Verzuz” peer — the last of whom provides some of his most boastful bars on the aptly titled “Bow Wow vs. Soulja Boy”:
“Say somethin’ crazy about me and Soulja, then we at your neck, shawty just told me she hungry, I told her to chill, we got food on the jet…
Take off from L.A. to Atlanta, in Atlanta you know that I brought me a pack back, niggas is claimin’ my road, man, I had Kim K when Soulja dropped ‘Crank That’…”
Strangely enough, “She Make It Clap” did not make the final cut, despite it scoring millions of streams across the board and topping Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop, US Top Triller, and Top Triller Global charts. Earlier this month, a remix of “She Make It Clap” surfaced with an assist from French Montana, further pushing the dance-ready single into upper echelon territory.
Press play on Big Draco.
