After being released from prison due to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturning his sexual assault conviction, Bill Cosby has broken his silence.
Today (June 30), the actor-comedian used his Twitter account to speak on the matter of his being released from behind bars.
“I have never changed my stance nor my story,” he wrote in the tweet. “I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby.”
Shortly after his release, celebrities from all corners of entertainment reacted to the news. One of the very first was his former ”The Cosby Show” co-star, Phylicia Rashad, who posted a tweet celebrating the occasion as she condemned the initial conviction as a grave injustice.
“Finally!!!!” she tweeted. “A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!”
Another celeb who was quick to react was 50 Cent, who celebrated Bill Cosby’s release by uploading a poster of Cosby’s Jell-O pudding ad from years ago. In the caption for the since-deleted posts, Fif shows some support for the actor.
“My son Bill beat that case. These hoes be tripping,” he said in the post, one in which he also took time to promote his “For Life” TV series. Plenty of other celebrities have also reacted to the news, which has sent some shockwaves through the internet since it was reported.
