It’s always a pleasure seeing two talented women link up for a well-executed collab, and it’s even greater seeing one that pushes their range. Yung Baby Tate joined songwriting duo Marian Hill for their latest single “oOo that’s my type,” and the unexpected collaboration turned out even better than imagined. On the new accompanying visual, Tate delivers her infections flow as she goes for a ride with vocalist Samantha:
They know my name, Yung Baby ain’t no regular, bitch (Ain’t no regular, oh)/ I look at the game, I ain’t got no competitors (Yeah) I’m on top like Mountain Fiji, like RiRi (Oh, ooh, oh-oh)
He say that he need meHe say that I’m just his type and I’m pretty (Oh, oh, oh-oh)/ Call me Saweetie, I’m killin’ ‘em. Get a ouija board (Ooh-woah, ooh)/ We make a movie, get MTV Award (Ooh-woah)/ He got me so what you think he need you for? Hmm?
Just last week, Yung Baby Tate treated fans with a deluxe version of her beloved After The Rain EP and then kept the momentum going by unleashing her vibrant new music video for her smash hit “Eenie Meenie.” The original After The Rain project included seven new tracks and features from Flo Milli and 6lack. For the Flo-Milli-assisted “I Am,” Yung Baby Tate made sure to take the time to cook up a stunning official visual that oozed confidence did the collab justice.
In a recent sit-down with REVOLT, Yung Baby Tate delved into what she wants to see more of in the future of the female rap game:
I want to see more brown skin and dark skin female rappers at the forefront. Not just in rap because I’m not just a rapper, but in music in general. It’s a blessing for Black women of any color to be on the podiums and the pedestals we’re on in those types of spotlights. But, one thing I really want to see, I hope to see, and I will see in the future is way more representation for brown and darker skin Black women.
