2021, the year of the black queens in music — that sounds good, doesn’t it? With tons of music flooding the masses between early 2020 and right now, it’s been a great pleasure to see women’s music across all genres dropping like sprinkled basil in the cooking pot. From infectious raps to melodic tunes and sultry vibes, no one in their right mind can’t question the brewing female star power these days. Today, rapper Yung Baby Tate unleashes the deluxe version of her EP After The Rain and like all of the other drops courtesy of black women in music this year, the word fire is an understatement.
Official Tracklist
The EP’s title is quite simple, yet riveting in a way. More times than not, there’s always a beautiful rainbow visible after a storm. Being among the most beautiful of nature’s displays, rainbows symbolize many positive things. It’s unique seeing the trying times we are currently facing and Baby Tate is simply showing us what’s there when the storm is over — audible pleasure. With After The Rain being a seven-track effort with musical features from 6lack and rising female sensation Flo Milli, the deluxe version includes six new cuts that she’s released through Issa Rae’s Raedio label that have high replay value.
In a recent interview with REVOLT, the rising star detailed many things from her ongoing career as well as things she’s excited for this year: “I’m always excited for growth. I say this every year and I continue to grow every year, but I’m extremely excited for the progression of my career to keep reaching new heights. To start opening new doors, branching off into different new career choices, things of that nature.”
Yung Baby Tate is one of one and shouldn’t be slept on by any means. Hopefully, the deluxe version of her After The Rain EP will wake you up if you’ve been snoozing. Check it out and let us know how you’re feeling it!
