This July, fans will head into theaters to see Space Jam: A New Legacy, the sequel to the 1996 classic Space Jam. As with its predecessor, the Lebron James-led film is guaranteed to have a top-quality soundtrack to match — today, we get a taste of what to expect with “We Win,” a collaboration between Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin.
Produced by Just Blaze, “We Win” sees the artists delivering the type of inspirational, faith-based subject matter that all ages can get behind and enjoy:
“We will be better than ever, made a promise, we can do it together, and I ain’t breakin’ my word, I just wish that I could fly like a bird, get away from this earth, had to pray a prayer felt I was cursed…”
Last year saw Lil Baby taking command of the culture, beginning with his sophomore LP My Turn. Including its deluxe upgrade, that project saw 27 tracks with additional features from Gunna, 42 Dugg, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, Moneybagg Yo, Young Thug, and Rylo Rodriguez. In addition to spawned high-charting singles like “We Paid,” “The Bigger Picture,” “Woah,” and “Sum 2 Prove,” My Turn also earned Lil Baby his first number-one album on the Billboard 200 thanks to 197,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release.
While not appearing to be as busy as Lil Baby, Kirk Franklin has continued to push the boundaries of gospel music — most recently, he’s blessed the masses with collaborative singles like “Millionaire (Good Like That)” with Tauren Wells and “Together” with For King & Country and Tori Kelly. His last solo album, Long, Live, Love, was released in 2019 and earned Franklin two Grammy awards the following year for Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Song.
